Daisy Delogu, a Professor of French Literature, has helped Chicago Public School students prepare for higher education through her involvement with the University of Chicago’s Collegiate Scholars Program (CSP).
Through CSP, Prof. Delogu has served as a mentor to high school students like Megha Khemka, a recent alum of Walter Payton College Prep who will attend Harvard University this fall. Khemka was also accepted to Brown, Princeton, Stanford, and Yale universities. Khemka developed a mentorship with Delogu while taking a summer course in 2023.
In reflecting on her CSP experience, Khemka has said: “I think what’s really great about UChicago’s community engagement is that it does bring in people who maybe otherwise would never have had the opportunity to be in that environment and puts a bunch of people who are very talented and very hardworking and come from all different walks of life together obviously to learn from the University but also to contribute to that classroom atmosphere…They really encouraged us that we don’t have to turn into something else in order to succeed in what seems like a very different and unknown environment, but that the perspectives we bring are valuable in and of themselves.”
