Heritage French : Developing Foundational Skills
This course is designed to build on heritage learners' skills to prepare them for success in subsequent French courses. Skill areas include in-depth practice in reading and writing, along with review and expansion of targeted grammar structures, and development of precision in vocabulary.
While the primary focus is improving reading and writing—ranging from informal communication to formal academic essays—students’ oral and listening skills will also be addressed. Throughout the quarter, students will complete a project based on interviews with family members to gain a deeper understanding of their own heritage and a broader perspective of the Francophone world.
NOTE: This course satisfies the College Language Competency Requirement. Open only to French Heritage Speakers or with instructor consent. No auditors permitted. If course is full, or total enrollment is less than enrollment limit & you can't register, attend on 1st day. Registered students who don't attend on 1st day may lose spot.
