Jorge Lefevre Tavárez joined the department of Romance Languages and Literatures in 2013. He received his BA in Estudios Hispánicos (2012) from the Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Río Piedras. He is the co-editor of The Puerto Rico Review and a monthly collaborator in En Rojo, the cultural supplement to Claridad. His main research regards the historical fictions of the Spanish Caribbean during the 19th century, particularly the transition from indianist literature to the modern historical novel. Other current projects revolve around the literature and political thought of Eugenio María de Hostos.
