Elizabeth Tavella joined the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures in 2014. She received her B.A. and M.A. in Romance Philology from the University of Rome "La Sapienza". An excerpt of her thesis, a comparative study focused on the material aspects of two manuscripts containing the trilogy Lancelot-Queste-Saint Graal, was published in the scholarly journal "Critica del Testo". Her research interests include Italian and French Medieval Literature, manuscript studies and Medieval art, with particular attention to the relationship between text and image. Prior to studying at the University of Chicago she gained experience as a translator and a secondary school teacher. She also worked in the editorial field and in libraries, having always been fascinated by special collections.
