Lidwina M. van den Hout specializes in Spanish language and literature, and in second language acquisition with a special emphasis on bilingualism and heritage language development. Lidwina studied Spanish Language and Literature, Theory of Literature and European History in Amsterdam (the Netherlands), Germany and Spain. At both the Universiteit van Amsterdam and the University of Chicago she taught a large variety of language courses, courses on Spanish History and Culture, as well as a course on Spanish sociolinguistics, to undergraduate as well as graduate students. She coordinates the Heritage & and Native Speakers Program and has developed both the intermediate and advanced language programs and the heritage track program.

All intermediate and advanced language courses, the heritage track courses, a course on Spanish sociolinguistics, and some elementary languages courses as well.
